"In the vehicular busy street the children live...

...and they cry, the poor innocence in jeopardy"
The issue concerning about the increasing number of street children in the Philippines is a serious social problem that we are barely facing in this age of time. We might not be consequently aware about it, or we may not feel openly its impact, since it is a silent difficulty that creeping in our disintegrating society. Nevertheless as we focus our attention and observe keenly the scenario with regard to our massive street-uncared-children, the statistics reveals to us in a very diverse way as we perceive it, of an approximately 1.5 million of street children in the Philippines, the number as of the year 1998 With it a continuously increasing number of 138,328 street children along the Mindanao area. 75% of these uncared children are working on the street but having a home to return after working on the vehicular busy avenue and some are even attending to school at the same time. On the other hand 5% to 10% are completely abandoned and living on the street sides, the statistics reported.
The street children are living in most danger prone area, brought by dreadful elements of outer environment. In the first place those young-minded-street children due to their curiosity, weak of self reliance and starvation are easily influence by the elements of illegal drugs; marijuana, shabu, solvent/rugby, and other related prohibited drugs, the latest study show that more often than not of those street children are frequently using illegal drugs. Because of their grubby and foul environment, they are also unwrap from danger concerning on health and related problems, such as malnutrition, wounds, indisposition, infirmity, untidiness, and thinness. Some as well of those street children suffer injuries from vehicular accidents and street fighting; they in addition are ill with sexual and physical abuses from extortionist and police alike. It is also an alarming problem pertaining to the imprisonment of minor age, mostly are street children, where they are under go physical, mental, psychological, and sexual abuses.
As the issue brought us to different conditional factors of idea, it might lead us to the root-reason on why this social problem comes up to this critical situation. “As anyone do, according to a philosopher, in faulty conscience will try to find the sinner than on finding the solution of the subject problem, in the fulfillment therefore prior to the statement I will furthermore give my view on who shall be the determinants of this problem. If you go to an activity hectic street and try to ask some of those inhabiting street children on question like; why they are here, where they live before, who are their parents, and other self-informative related inquiry. With their answer most probably you will come up in the issue, “family matter”, since mostly of those street children whom I had encountered and asked, replied that their mothers send them here, or they need to help their mother, or they have no family anymore.
Thus I can arrive into the conclusion that partly this things happened due to the negligent of parental responsibility. Those children in the vehicular busy street running, begging, sleeping on street sides, selling something, with their poor, dirty, little faces have their parents somewhere. Parents that in the first part, out of responsibility they have, out of their dignity, and out of their title as father and mother should take the care ,protection, material, emotional and other needs of their children, whose children are on the street, considering that 75% of those street children have their family somewhere.
But it is not only the motive why we have this type of problem. The extreme poverty is in addition one of the major contributor of gradual but continuously increasing street children. As a matter of well recognized actuality our country Philippines suffers extensive deterioration on economy that lead to wide-ranging job losses and decline of family income as a source of financial survival. Because of this, members (offspring) of the family force to go out in the street in order to support the inadequate family financial income. The wide uncontrolled graft and corruption in the country also helps the declining scenario of our economy. The government in other hand, to a certain extent engages in recreation of this concern, since they are being inattentive with their task with regard to this issue and to the problem of corruption.
In the long run of this short informative literary piece we can formulate a conclusion that those street uncared children are just an actual representation that our country’s economy is on bad condition, and greatly beneficiary of its awful result is the children of those poor families. The parents of those children and the government are partly accountable to the fate of street children in the fact that they are the individuals and the agency that are responsible to their children and citizens.
